A Month of Terra Incognita

Jun 7, 2011 | Posted by Kevin J. Anderson | Writing |

My fantasy epic, Terra Incognita, reaches its finale this month with the release of the third volume, The Key to Creation from Orbit Books.  A complex and sprawling tale of sailing ships and sea monsters, intrepid explorers voyaging to uncharted lands, and a religious war that has thrown two continents against each other.  As fans of my Saga of Seven Suns know, as well as my Dune and Hellhole novels with Brian Herbert, I like to tell vast stories with numerous characters and many perspectives from across the spectrum. Terra Incognita should appeal to all those readers.

As a special introduction for this month only, Orbit is offering a special bargain eBook of volume 1, The Edge of the World.  You get the complete 170,000-word novel for $1.99.  Download from the Orbit Books website.  I hope it whets your appetite.

And if you are already a reader of the series, or if you’d like to try a shorter introduction to the Terra Incognita universe, I have written an original standalone short story, “Mythical Creatures”—A prester in search of penance accepts an assignment to the rugged Soeland Islands, but he must confront his faith after he is cast overboard and then rescued by a mythical creature that the Scriptures tell him cannot exist.  “Mythical Creatures” is also available for $1.99 for Kindle, Nook, and other eReader formats. As a bonus, the package also contains the complete story and lyrics for the two Terra Incognita crossover rock CDs, “Beyond the Horizon” and “A Line in the Sand,” performed by Roswell Six.

Volume 2 in the trilogy, The Map of All Things, has just been released in mass-market paperback and is widely available in bookstores.

At the end of June, you’ll also be able to pick up the conclusion to the trilogy, The Key to Creation.  All cover art is by the extremely talented Lee Gibbons.

And if that isn’t enough Terra Incognita, you can always play the soundtrack of the crossover rock CDs, with original lyrics by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta and performances by rock legends from Kansas, Asia, Dream Theater, Saga, IQ, Shadow Gallery, Frameshift, and others.  Order signed copies from AnderZoneShop.com.
