19th Wedding Anniversary—on a Segway
Rebecca and I recently celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary, and after brainstorming what we’d like to do, we decided we had always wanted to ride a Segway. A small company operates Segway tours leaving from the Denver Aquarium to historic downtown Denver. We signed up for a three-hour off-season weekday morning tour, met the other people in the party (one other person plus a guide), and spent some time practicing in the large, empty aquarium parking lot.
The Segway took some getting used to, but it was very enjoyable zooming around, up and down the sidewalks, turning on a dime, then accelerating ahead. Reb and I have lived in Colorado for 13 years, but have never gotten the full-blown historical perspective of old Denver.
After the tour, we had an extravagant and delicious lunch at our favorite Brazilian steak house, Fogo de Chao, in lower downtown. While we relaxed over our meal, we did do some discussion and plotting of Star Challengers #2, but for the most part it was a day off from writing.
