DARK KNIGHT RISES: A Premiere to Remember
After the shootings in Aurora on opening night of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, I’ve been hesitant to blog about the VIP charity premiere we attended only a few miles away. But it was an excellent event for a good cause, and the charity and event organizers deserve our support and a round of applause.
“A Premiere to Remember” was put on by Forte Events to support the charity organization, A Walk to Remember, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization “ensuring that bereaved families do not walk the journey alone by focusing on bereavement care resources and support for those touched by all types of pregnancy and infant loss.” Rebecca and I attended as VIP guests, donating signed books for all the swag bags.
In the afternoon before the premiere, guests were treated to “dolling up” at Floyd’s Barbershop; I had a haircut and manicure while Rebecca got her hair done. Then we had a quick dinner at a Greek restaurant and headed off to the United Artists theater and the red carpet.
We walked the red carpet, and were joined by a few others who had stepped off the screen.
The film started at 7 PM, one of the first showings in the US, in a packed theater for the nearly sold-out charity event. (I don’t usually go to a movie theater in such fancy clothes!) After the film, we went to the lavish after-party at Dave & Busters adjacent to the theater, where we signed autographs and I gave out preview booklets of Clockwork Angels: The Novel and Death Warmed Over postcards.
We had a wonderful time, and a significant amount of money was raised for A Walk to Remember. Please check out their website at http://www.walktoremember.org/ (Most photos by My Images of Life photography.)
