Denver Batman Premiere and Shooting
I’ve been getting a lot of questions and letters of concern, so I wanted to post this as soon as possible.
Rebecca and I attended the red-carpet premiere of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES last night in Denver. It was a charity event, with proceeds to benefit A Walk To Remember, an organization that supports bereaved families who have lost children. (Much too poignant and close to home, considering the events later in the night.) Please support them.
It was an enjoyable afternoon and evening, with haircut, manicure, spiffing up provided for VIPs by Floyd’s 99 barbershop; everybody dressed fancy, a walk on the red carpet, and a 7 PM showing of the film (one of the first showings in the US), and then a well-attended after-party at Dave & Busters next door. Rebecca and I signed many autographs, gave away Clockwork Angels preview booklets, Death Warmed Over postcards, Resurrection, Inc bookmarks. We drove home at about 12:30.
On our way out of Denver, numerous police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks rushed past us, sirens wailing, headed in the opposite direction. We figured there must have been an accident. It wasn’t until we woke up this morning that we learned about the mass shooting at another Batman midnight showing, only about 7 miles away from ours. We are shocked and sickened, and our hearts go out to all those who were affected—and by that I mean EVERYONE, because how could you not be affected by this?
