New Sample Track — “Here Be Monsters”

Apr 12, 2009 | Posted by Lance Card | Writing |
We’ve uploaded our fourth sample track from the Roswell Six/Terra Incognita CD: “Here Be Monsters” featuring terrific vocals by John Payne (ASIA Featuring John Payne), with supporting vocals by Michael Sadler (ex-SAGA) and Lana Lane.  Listen to it at the Roswell Six MySpace page.  This song is about the fear of the unknown, sailors heading off into uncharted waters, afraid of what they might find. John Payne is Captain Andon Shay of the exploration ship, the Luminara; Michael Sadler is Criston, the young sailor; Lana Lane is Adrea, the wife he left behind at home:

HERE BE MONSTERS
Lyrics by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta
Music by Erik Norlander
Vocals: John Payne, Michael Sadler, Lana Lane

(Captain Shay)
Here be monsters . . . dangerous reefs,
Krakens prowl the darkest deeps,
This is where Leviathan sleeps.

Ancient legends recognize
Ship and treasure, fool and wise—
These are all Leviathan’s prize.

(Criston)
Don’t know what’s below,
Don’t know what’s ahead,
Don’t know what’s out there,
But we sail to the edge—the edge of the world!

(Adrea’s voice)
Steer the right course,
Let the compass guide,
You’ll find your way home in the end.

(Captain Shay)
Ships gleam gold as daylight breaks,
Gallant captains know the stakes,
Dreading when Leviathan wakes.

Bold explorers fearless roam,
Sailing on a path of foam,
Into old Leviathan’s home.

(Criston)
Don’t know what’s below,
Don’t know what’s ahead,
Don’t know what’s out there,
But we sail to the edge—the edge of the world!

(Adrea’s voice)
Steer the right course,
Let the compass guide,
You’ll find your way home in the end.

(Captain Shay)
Unknown seas on empty maps,
Stirring serpents, thunder claps . . .
Beware of Leviathan’s traps.

Thick clouds rise, as black as hate,
Warning of a stormy fate,
If we pass Leviathan’s gate.

(Criston)
Don’t know what’s below,
Don’t know what’s ahead,
Don’t know what’s out there,
But we sail to the edge—the edge of the world!

(Adrea’s voice)
Steer the right course,
Let the compass guide,
When you reach the edge of the world,
You can fly. . . .
