When Words Collide—Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise

Last week we traveled up to Calgary, Alberta, where we were guests for the "When Words Collide" writers conference.  Rebecca and I arrived at the beautiful airport, were picked up by Ryah and John (who took care of us for the entire convention). A new sequel: Xavier Louis Cowan

Only hours before Rebecca and I departed for When Words Collide in Calgary, Alberta, our second grandson was born, Xavier Louis Cowan. We just came home from Calgary this afternoon and saw the new baby right away.  We met Jonathan,  Jessica, and Harrison (now 2.5 yrs old) at Phantom Canyon Brewery, the same place where we had dinner with Harrison when he was only about a week old.  Yes, I do have the cutest grandsons. Then, when we drove home, we arrived to a beautiful sunset, one of the reasons why we love being back in Colorado.

Olympics and Writing

I gave this keynote last night at When Words Collide in Calgary, Alberta, and it was a blog I posted two years ago...but now relevant again.  Ditherers, take note: IF ONLY I HAD THE TIME… During the Olympics, the world watches great athletes from all nations perform seemingly impossible feats with breathtaking skill.  When those well-toned men and women receive their medals, we admire them for their almost superhuman abilities.  As we sit on the couch munching potato chips, most of us don’t kid ourselves that we could be just as talented, just as fast, just as strong . ....
